Steve Hilfiker and Ozzie Rodriguez represented ERMI at a networking event this month in Fort Myers, hosted by the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (Region V) and the Florida Section of the American Water Resources Association.
In keeping with AWWA’s stated aims “to advance public health, safety, the economy, and the environment,” the event provided a forum in which SW Florida water professionals could share perspectives on regulatory issues and effective water management.
The interactive setting also gave Hilfiker and Rodriguez the opportunity to meet with Phillip Flood of the South Florida Water Management District, and John Iglehart from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Protection of groundwater sources has been at the forefront of ERMI’s activities for decades, and Steve Hilfiker (who is also an AWWA member) has helped draft state legislation associated with groundwater quality.
